Doctoral Thesis

There are usually two possibilities

Internal Doctoral Student

You can become an internal doctoral student and research associate at the chair. This implies you become an employee of the university for that time, usually a 50-75% research position. The number of positions is usually very limited, so check on the website whether there is any open position.

External Doctoral Student

A second option is to write a thesis as external doctoral student. Here, students have to finance themselves or via their current employer. You can apply anytime. The following documents should be submitted:

• Motivational letter
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Transcript of records (from previous universities and academic institutions)
• Preliminary research proposal – use and complete the following template:
  “External doctoral application – preliminary research proposal”

Incomplete applications will not be considered.
