What documents are required for recognition/placement?

In any case, please send:

  • the completely pre-filled and signed[1]  form (only in the yellow-highlighted areas) (= application) (docx) both as an editable DOCX file and as a PDF file (Tip on filling this out: our summary of the modules and their contents of our degree programs).
  • the transcript of records (ToR) with the credits earned at the previous university/semester abroad or the credits earned in the previous degree program
  • (We reserve the right to request the original later) and the module handbook for the achievement certificates that you have obtained that you would now like to have recognized for modules in Department 03 (not necessary: module descriptions for modules of Department 03 or language courses at the Language Centre).
  • a current certificate of enrolment (if you are already enrolled at Philipps-Universität Marburg; downloadable via MARVIN).

Please also send, if:

  • you have already completed coursework at Philipps-Universität Marburg: the current transcript of records
  • an agreement has already been reached and the desired recognition has already been addressed in it (Dr. Bieker is responsible for this): the signed Learning Agreement.
  • Send the application with all attachments either signed or—if you are enrolled at Philipps-Universität Marburg—via your student e-mail account so that we can clearly identify you and process your request.

Where should I send everything?

Send the documents as soon as possible to anerfb03[at]uni-marburg.de.
Your request will usually be processed within 5 working days. It can take up to three weeks to issue recognition notices/recommendations. If it is a very urgent request, please add “unfortunately urgent” (“leider eilig”) to the subject line and briefly explain why it is urgent.

What can generally be recognized?

In general, we are able to recognize the following:

  • only modules that we are responsible for,
  • only modules that you are allowed to take per your Degree Program and Examination Rules,
(-> good place to start: what you are allowed to take is available via your study planner in MARVIN) and
  • only things that you can prove you have already taken.

Modules can generally be recognized if there are no significant differences between the modules (e.g., in terms of quality, learning outcomes, workload, level, profile).
