As part of an international research project on ‘Research-based learning at memorials and museums’, the project participants visited both the Memorial and Museum Trutzhain and the Gießen Emergency Reception Camp, a site of learning and remembrance. Alongside a guided tour through the historical sites and exhibitions, the meeting also served as an opportunity to discuss and prepare a toolbox that can be used in future by lecturers, students and anyone else interested to address research questions relating to topics such as archiving, eyewitness accounts, visitor analysis, exhibition design and much more. Last but not least, a meeting with students from the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy further enriched the perspectives and opinions of the project participants.
