  • Can I use my degree to study in Germany?

Before applying, you can check on your own whether your foreign degree qualifies you for direct or indirect university entrance qualification. Please use the following websites:

    https://anabin.kmk.org/db/schulabschluesse-mit-hochschulzugang

    https://www.uni-assist.de/tools/check-hochschulzugang/

The university does not conduct a preliminary review.

  • Direct and indirect university entrance qualifications

If you have a direct university entrance qualification, you are eligible to begin your studies immediately.
If you have an indirect university entrance qualification, you must attend a preparatory college before beginning your studies. You can find all the relevant information under the heading “Preparatory College Before Starting Your Studies.”

  • Who is applying where?

Please note: An application accompanied by a “Feststellungsprüfung” (FSP) is still considered a foreign qualification!

You want to pursue a non-selective degree programm and have a foreign high school diploma. Please apply via uni-assist.
You would like to study a degree program with regional enrollment restrictions (Biomedical Science or Psychology) and are a non-German or non-EU citizen with a foreign high school diploma. Please apply via uni-assist.
You want to pursue a degree program with nationwide admission restrictions (Human Medicine, Pharmacy, or Dentistry) and hold a foreign high school diploma. Please apply via uni-assist.

  • Application deadlines

The uni-assist application portal is open during the respective application periods.

Please note the different application periods for the preparatory college and the degree program.

  • Applying without Germ language skills?

In such a case, the following applies: You can apply for admission-free degree programs via uni-assist without any knowledge of German. If you meet all the other admission requirements for the program, you will be offered conditional admission.

A conditional admission means that, before starting your degree program, you have the opportunity to enroll as a language student for two semesters and attend language courses. The conditional admission “reserves” your study place for the period during which you are enrolled as a language student, so that you can begin your degree program after passing the required German language examination.

Please note: This does not apply to programmes with restricted admission (NC).

Do you need more information about conditional admission and enrollment as a language student? You can find it here.

  • Application to the preparatory program (Studienkolleg) before starting a degree program

If you have an indirect university entrance qualification, you must attend the preparatory college (Studienkolleg) before beginning your studies.

Apply via uni-assist for your desired degree program within the specified application deadline.
Different application deadlines apply to you (March 1–April 15 for a winter semester & September 1–October 15 for a summer semester).

If you apply with German language skills below level B2, you have the option to first enroll as a language student before entering the Studienkolleg.
If you apply with German language skills at or above level B2, you will receive an invitation to the admission test via email for a spot at the Studienkolleg.

Are you currently attending a PASCH school and would like to attend the Studienkolleg? Please contact Anke Heibrock

  • Application with an FSP after completing the preparatory program (Studienkolleg)

Have you successfully passed your placement exam and would now like to begin your major studies?
Please reapply for the major studies via uni-assist within the application deadlines.
Please note the university’s current major restrictions.
