Whether student job, internship or permanent employment: Starting your career in Germany raises many questions. The International Office supports international and refugee students with counselling, information and workshops during their career start.

Counselling at the International Office

Open Office hours

The International Office offers open office hours for international and refugee students without appointment every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm. At: Bunsenstraße 3, 4th floor, room 411.

Possible subjects for your consultation:

  • Initial information regarding (legal) questions about student jobs and career entry with residence permits
  • Tips for career orientation
  • Information on the German job market and the general application process
  • Information and tips on shaping your indiviudal profile at the University of Marburg
  • Information on and reference to other consultation offices

What our consultation cannot do:

  • Individual counselling on career paths and specific job fields (“Coaching”)
  • Mediation or facilitation of jobs
  • Checking applications

Workshops

Every semester, the International Office offers a series of workshops. These workshops particularly address refugee and international students and are all about working in Germany and career paths after graduating from a Germany university.

Registration is possible via Ilias and it is binding. All workshops are listed in this Ilias-course. You first have to register for the course, then you can fill out the registration poll for the workshop of your choice and thus register for it.

  • Prepare for the fair: Getting Ready for a Career Fair, October 04

    October 04, 15.00-17.30 p.m.

     

    Online Workshop for refugee students and international students

    You are writing many applications and not getting any feedback? How about trying to get directly in touch with companies at a career fair? There are many career fairs in the region this fall and winter, so be sure to be prepared. This workshop will help you in getting ready. You will practice pitching yourself at a company’s stand and practice short interviews. You will also learn about the recruiter’s point of view at a career fair.

    Personal online counseling appointments for refugee and international students.

    You would like feedback on your motivation letter? Wondering if you structured your CV correctly? Take the chance to have your documents checked by an experienced application trainer! On Friday, November 10, you can book a personal appointment.
