Call for Papers: International summer school "The Politics of Memory in Transition: Applying Methods of Conflict Analysis and Approaches of Conflict Resolution to Central Asia"

Logo ZfK The Center for Conflict Studies (CCS) at the University of Marburg is delighted to announce the Call for Applications for the international summer school "The Politics of Memory in Transition: Applying Methods of Conflict Analysis and Approaches of Conflict Resolution to Central Asia". The CCS has been awarded a grant by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to organize the summer school in collaboration with the the Kazakh University of Humanities and Law (KHUL) and the DAAD in Astana. The summer school will take place in Astana between the 12th and 17th September 2011.

Submission deadline is: 15 May 2011.

New CSS Policy Paper regarding the situation in Burma released

CCS Policy Paper: Burma after elections in 2010: "Something will happen"


Even though Aung San Suu Kyi was released from house arrest this Policy Paper is calling for international pressure on the Burmese military Government to support Human Rights and Democracy. The lift of international sanctions will not lead to a peaceful transition in Burma; to the contrary lowering international pressure will cause more violence.
