Programme Structure

  • Students who start the programme at Kent University will take TRACK I.
  • Students who start the programme at Marburg University will take TRACK II.

In terms of course content it does not matter whether you start at Kent or Marburg. The mandatory modules on theories of conflict, conflict resolution and methods are offered by both universities during the first year. However, only fluent German speakers can start at Marburg, because Marburg offers the mandatory first-year modules in German only. The dissertation module is jointly offered and assessed by both universities. Students will acquire 60 ECTS credits (120 Kent credits) per academic year, no matter whether they start at Kent or Marburg.

Starting in Kent  is the more convenient option regarding the internship, because the Spring Term at Kent University ends in early April which allows you to do the internship between April and September. This allows you to do the internship of 10 weeks during the period of April until early September. Students who start at Marburg have to do their internship in the semester breaks from mid-February to mid-April or from mid-July to mid-September. We therefore recommend starting at Kent University.

All applications have to be submitted via the Kent website!

The full programme specficications are available here.

The German language version of the study regulations at the Centre for Conflict Studies at Marburg University is available here.
