Working Group 23 Post-Colonial Studies (2011–2016)

The goal of the Working Group "Post-Colonial Studies" was the interdisciplinary exchange on post-colonial constellations and conflicts in their various historical, political, and textual forms.

Although it is generally accepted that the history of all "Western" nations are more or less inseparably intertwined with the history of the colonial countries, the focus of post-colonial research is still on individual discourses and individual countries. The Working Group attempted to examine cultural transfer and hybridization processes in the post-colonial contexts from a trans-disciplinary perspective and to promote a stronger collaboration among the individual post-colonial disciplines on a theoretical and methodological level. To this end, an international graduate conference was also organized in 2011.

Within the framework of the colloquium, junior scholars could present various topics for discussion or present ongoing research projects.
