Placement Procedure: Intensive Courses

A) Information about the Placement Intensive Course on September 26

When does the assessment take place?

Regular placement:  from 21 July -24. August

Regular students and Docs/Postdocs send the documents to ko-daf@staff.uni-marburg.de

Who must take an assessment?
  • All students and members of the Philipps-Universität who have not yet been classified by the Language Centre.
  • Applicants without a university account are not admitted to the intensive course.
How can I take the assessment?
  • The placement test for German as a foreign language is a C-Test.
  • You will also be asked to complete a survey.
What does the C-Test look like?
  • It contains 5 short texts with gaps that need to be filled so that the texts make sense.
  • You can try out this format by doing a short anonymous sample test.

B) Access to C-Test and survey

For preparation, you can find a short anonymous C-Test here:   sample test

For the placement, please open the following links:

  1. Survey

2. C-Test

Attention:

  • Send your PDF survey to the following address:
  • Completing both parts of the survey is mandatory; otherwise, your placement will not be valid.

 C) Information about your placement result

You can view your final placement test results here. When you take the placement test, you will automatically be registered for the intensive course. Next to your score, you will find a link to the course offerings, allowing you to continue your studies during the semester following the intensive courses.

By participating in the intensive course, you will become a continuing student. This status allows you to reserve a spot in a semester course before the official registration period begins in April 2026.

If your result is unclear, a question mark (?) will be displayed next to your score. This indicates that we would like to speak with you to ensure you are placed in the correct level. To arrange a consultation, I invite you to contact me.

You're also welcome to visit my office at Biegenstr. 12, Room 010.
