Registering for Courses and Examinations
Students that study at the English department from the summer term 2026 onwards have to register for courses and examinations using the platform Marvin. Incoming students that have already arrived previously to the summer term 2026, still register manually. This means, that you have to write an e-mail to every instructor with whom you want to take a course. Please adhere to our e-mail ettiquette and make sure to contact the instructor as early as possible. You can find the appropriate e-mail address when clicking on a course in Marvin. If you are unsure about who the right instructor is, write us an e-mail at iaasokra@uni-marburg.de!
Registering for Courses
The registration period for courses is only a week and usually takes place about a month before the semester starts. Make sure to take a look at the specific dates and deadlines for the current semester.
To register for a course, go to Marvin and select a module that you want to complete during your stay in Marburg. Then register for all courses that are associated with that module. Sometimes you can choose between different courses. As an example, take the module North American Literature and Culture I. This module consists of one lecture-style course (UE) and one intermediate level seminar (PS). Usually we only offer one option for the lecture-style course, which you have to register for, and multiple options for the intermediate level seminars, out of which you only have to register for one.
Registering for Examinations
Besides registering for courses, you also have to register for the examinations that you need to pass in order to complete a module, get a grade and ECTS points. Usually, you can start registering for examinations once the semester starts and registration will be open for about three weeks. Make sure to take a look at the specific dates and deadlines for the current semester.
