Workshop Announcement: Studying Global China - June 23rd & 24th, 2025

The upcoming “Studying Global China Workshop” offers a unique platform for researchers to engage with the complexities of China's global influence. The event brings together Sinologists and social scientists to reflect on methodological challenges, share fieldwork experiences, and explore interdisciplinary approaches.

The two-day workshop (June 23rd & 24th, 2025) welcomes PhD students, postdocs, and Berlin-based scholars. Participation is also open to M.A./M.Sc. students depending on available capacity.

Highlights include:

  • Keynote by Ching Kwan Lee (UCLA), renowned author of The Specter of Global China
  • Guest lectures by Yuka Kobayashi (SOAS & DGAP), Bertram Lang (Philipps-Universität Marburg), and Heejin Lee (Yonsei University)
  • Informal discussion sessions tailored to participants’ research interests
  • Networking opportunities with coffee, snacks, and peer exchange
