The prospect of writing an academic paper is daunting to many fresh university students, and not without good reason. Professors’ standards are high, and you want to meet them, but you may not be confident in how to do so: How do you know if you have selected appropriate literature? How do you develop a research topic and find an effective research question? How do you generate ideas and organize the writing process? How do you revise your paper and make it submission ready? And how might you use AI tools and chatbots to ethically and productively support the writing process?
This workshop tackles these “hows” of the academic writing process, providing participants with a clear, step-by-step process for conducting independent research and writing academic papers. Its aim is to boost participants’ confidence in academic writing through actionable advice and strategies, useful examples, and curated resources. Whether you are preparing for your first Hausarbeit or for your thesis, you will find advice and resources here to support you.

Further information about this event and online registration can be found on the course page of the ILIAS learning platform.

You can register for this course via ILIAS starting May 4, 2026.
