Welcome to Marburg and to the 38th annual conference on Plant Population Biology – PopBio 2026
May 7th – 9th 2026
We are pleased to welcome you to the annual conference of the specialist group “Plant Population Biology” (PopBio) of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, hosted by Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany. This annual meeting with a long tradition brings together approximately 100 researchers to share recent work and discuss advances in plant population biology and related disciplines.
The program includes:
- Five keynote talks by internationally recognized scientists covering a broad range of topics related to plant population biology (Maria von Korff, Desanka Lazic, Sophie Karrenberg, Florian Schießtl, Robert Junker)
- Oral presentations of recent research
- Two poster sessions to encourage discussion
A welcome reception and Icebreaker event will be held on Wednesday evening, May 6, in the beautiful old botanical garden providing an opportunity to connect before the conference begins. On Friday evening, May 8, we will host the conference dinner in the New Botanical Garden. Following the conclusion of sessions on Saturday, May 9, we offer a guided excursion to restored mires in the nearby Burgwald – an excellent example of successful ecosystem restoration.
Marburg, a historic university town in central Germany, offers a beautiful setting for scientific exchange.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Marburg!
