Central User Account for Guests

Central user accounts can be provided for guests of Philipps-University Marburg (or guests of affiliated institutions). As a rule, the following authorizations are granted (cf. scope of services):

WIFI (eduroam)
Windows PCs in PC rooms, lecture halls, seminar rooms
ILIAS

Other services will only be activated upon request.

Application procedure (by target group)

Anonymous guest accounts for conferences, events, appraisals, etc.
Anonymous guest accounts can be provided for up to 250 guests as well as for external organizers. The provision is subject to a fee, for the procedure see:

Guest scientists or individual guests of a working group

Please apply for a personal staff account.
External employees, lecturers, speakers

Please apply for a personal staff account.
External doctoral candidates (without working contract)

Please apply for a personal staff account.
Regularly changing guests

IT representatives or secretariats are welcome to apply for permanent, non-personal function accounts including self-administration. These accounts can then be used for changing guests on a long-term basis and new passwords and expiration dates can be assigned at any time via web form. The number is usually limited to 10-20.

Note: The use of ILIAS is not intended for such function accounts, because the accounts should exist for a longer period of time and no user data will be deleted in the meantime.
Guest house residents

The guest house administration reports new residents of the guest houses "Hansenhäuser Weg" and "Sonnenblickallee" to the University Computer Center before the beginning of each month. Each resident receives a personal employee account without further application. The letter with the access data is handed over to you by the janitor when you move in.

In the guest house "Alter Botanischer Garten", however, residents do not receive a personal employee account. Instead, the guest house administration will activate a non-personal function account for each guest at short notice without further application.
Guest students and participants in the senior study program

As a registered guest student with a guest student license, you will receive a guest student account without further application.
Specially talented pupils (university studies during school hours)

Specially talented pupils who have been granted the right to participate in courses and examinations in accordance with § 60 Abs. 5 HessHG (2021) will receive a school students account without further application.
Participants in trial studies

Your course instructor can request an ILIAS account for you.
External participants in an ILIAS course

Your course instructor can request an ILIAS account for you.
External PJ students and PJ course participants

Students and course participants within the practical year (Praktisches Jahr) who are not members of Uni Marburg are registered by the Studiendekanat at the faculty of medicine. The dean's office registers them at the HRZ. They receive a personal staff account without further application.
Participants in courses of Studienkolleg Mittelhessen

The team of the Studienkolleg requests personal ILIAS accounts for each course in advance.
Students of the Archivschule Marburg

The team of the Archivschule reports its students to the University Computer Center every six months. Each student receives a personal student account without further application.
Student Residents (without enrollment)

You will receive a personal student account for one semester upon request. Please email helpdesk@hrz.uni-marburg.de for the application form. A copy of the lease agreement must be attached to the completed application.

Note: Students from other universities do not need a guest account, they can use their home institution's eduroam credentials for LAN access.

Students of other universities

Students from other universities who attend courses at the University of Marburg can apply for an ILIAS account via their course instructor.

Note: For LAN and WIFI access, please use the eduroam access data of your home institution. In the University Library there are also PCs available for literature research, which you can use without a central user account.
