Third-party funding means that research institutions and universities receive money from external donors such as companies, foundations, or other public institutions to finance specific projects that go beyond regular, declining basic funding. Acquiring third-party funding not only enables innovative research to be carried out, but is also an essential part of preparing for an academic career.
In this workshop, we will take a look at the landscape of third-party funding for postdocs in Germany, focusing in particular on funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG). We will consider which types of funding are beneficial for which career stages and which criteria are important for a successful third-party funding application.
