Strategic Career Planning for Postdocs – Online event and individual coaching

In this workshop, you will gain clarity, develop strategies, and get ready to build a successful academic future.

Numerous aspects are important when planning your career in academia. Some of these are present in your everyday life, while others are often underestimated in terms of their significance. In this workshop, we will discuss how to reconcile your own approaches with the respective conditions, based on the diversity of educational backgrounds, approaches to academia and expectations of it. Based on the status quo of your current situation, we will work out what your goals could be and how the numerous tasks can be well organized despite uncertain future prospects.

Following this intensive joint work in the morning, there will be individual coaching sessions of 90 minutes each in the afternoon and on the following day. Individual questions that arise will be given sufficient space to develop concrete fields of action and strategies.

Qualification Outcomes

After the workshop you will be able to

• Recognize the numerous aspects that are relevant to career planning,
• Assess your status quo well,
• Recognise where you should focus more attention,
• Control how you systematically build and maintain your self-confidence,
• Distinguish between individual and structural conditions,
• Differentiate between your short-, medium- and long-term goals, and
• Prioritize your activities according to their importance.

Methods

Input, group discussions, individual work, and small group discussions 
Individual coaching: systemic counseling, confidential, resource- and solution-oriented 

Requirements

Please bring your current CV (it will remain with you and will not be shown to anyone) and, if available, an important reference about you or a text you have written. 

To take part in the online course, you will need a PC/laptop with an up-to-date browser (recommended: Chrome or Firefox) as well as a headset (or loudspeaker and microphone), a webcam if necessary and a stable internet connection.

Cancellation is possible up to twelve days before the start of the course without reason. After that, the participation fee must be paid even if you do not attend the course.
