Barbara Budrich Publishers is inviting applications for its promotion Dissertation Competition. New this year: two prizes will be awarded. The winners will each receive the opportunity to publish their dissertation free of charge in the promotion series at Barbara Budrich Publishers.

Who can participate?

The competition is open to anyone who:

• has completed a dissertation in one of the publisher’s subject areas – social sciences or educational sciences,
• completed their dissertation within the 12 months preceding November 1, 2026,
• has not yet published their dissertation, and
• received a grade of at least magna cum laude for their dissertation.

Two prizes for two fields

Starting this year, two dissertations will be selected:

1. Social sciences, including political science, sociology, and gender studies
2. Educational sciences, social pedagogy, and social work

The submitted dissertations will be evaluated by an expert jury.
