Using Two-Factor Authentication in the Uni Marburg-App
- Click “My Studies” in the bottom menu bar (Fig. 1).
- A list will appear showing the module “Two-Factor Authentication” (Fig. 2). Click it.
- Activate the PIN code (Fig. 3).
- Create a PIN code. Enter a memorable 4-digit here (Fig. 4). You will need to enter this pin every time you open the Uni Marburg-App.
Tip: If you don’t want to enter the PIN code every time, you can additionally enable Face ID / Touch ID in the settings (General). - Scan the QR code (Fig. 5). that is displayed for you in the university’s 2FA portal.
To obtain the QR code, you must log in to the 2FA portal with your username + password + existing second factor, and then you can generate a new app token for the Uni Marburg-App.
Tip: Use a device other than your smartphone for this, and if you encounter problems, refer to the instructions and contacts for the app token and 2FA portal (see below).

6. After successfully scanning the QR code, you will find an entry labeled “Philipps University of Marburg” under the “Two-Factor Authentication” module. It will display a time-based one-time password in the form of an 8-digit number that changes every 30 seconds. You can now use this token for future logins requiring two-factor authentication.
