The objective of the workshop is to optimize your individual time and self-management during your PhD phase. The overall focus lies on the improvement of your current scientific work situation.

In this online workshop you will reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of your personal work habits, including the issue of procrastination. In various tutorials you will gain insight into techniques and best practices of time management, e. g. how to focus on priorities, how to gain free space, and how to use your personal energy peaks. We will discuss daily disturbances in your current working environments and develop respective counteraction procedures to enable the efficient achievement of your personal goals.

Intended Learning Outcomes

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to

  • improve your time and self-management by applying strategies and techniques,
  • identify priorities and organize your tasks accordingly,
  • develop strategies to counteract disturbances, and
  • identify your personal energy peaks and know how to use them in planning your activities on a daily and weekly basis.

Didactic Methods

  • Situation analysis and self-reflection
  • Online tutorials on methods and techniques
  • Discussion of best practices in breakout rooms and exchange in the virtual plenum
  • Individual action planning for optimizing your time and self-management

Requirements 

To participate in the online course, you need a PC/laptop with a current browser (recommended: Chrome or Firefox) as well as a headset (or speakers and a microphone), a webcam, and a stable Internet connection.

Proficiency in English at the B2 level of competency is required.
