International Docotoral and PhD Students

We offer an international programme for the following target group:

doctoral students at a university outside Germany who wish to do research in Marburg for a limited amount of time and then return to their university
prospective doctoral students from abroad who wish to do their doctorate at Marburg University, to whom we offer assistance during the initial stages of their stay in Marburg

The programme comprises:

optional preparatory German language course from the beginning of March or September at € 250 (4 weeks, 20 lessons per week)
simplified admissions and enrolment procedure
assistence in the accomplishment of all formalities connected with the opening of a bank account, taking out a health insurance policy or the recognition of an existing foreing health insurance; assistance at the authority for foreigners and the residents` registration office; help with the registration for an orientation course (€ 25)
if desired: reservation of a single room in a hall of residence at around € 200 per month

The programme starts:

at the beginning of March or September for students who will attend a preparatory German language course
at the beginning of April or October for those who do not need a language course

There are 15 places on this programme each semester. Academic organisations or partners to a cooperation with Marburg University can register doctoral students with us until December 31 for the Summer Semester and until June 30 for the Winter Semester. We cannot consider applications on students' own initiative, without the participation of their own university/organisation. Click on the link for a Registration Form.
