26.11.2025 Ten doctoral scholarships on German-Jewish history and culture to be awarded in the Leo Baeck Fellowship Program

For the academic year 2026/2027, the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes will once again award up to ten fellowships in the Leo Baeck Program Fellowship to doctoral students working on a dissertation in the field of German-Jewish history and culture. The program is run in cooperation with the Leo Baeck Institute London and the Leibniz-Institute for Jewish History and Culture – Simon Dubnow.
The program offers a full scholarship for a period of one year (October 2026 – September 2027). Each month, recipients receive €1,650 and a research allowance of €100, as well as subsidies for tuition fees, travel to archives, research institutes, conferences, and libraries worldwide, as needed. Researchers can also receive additional support for health insurance and childcare. In addition to the scholarship, researchers can undertake scientific activities equivalent to a 25 percent position. The working languages are German and English.
The Leo Baeck Fellowship Program is open to applicants of all nationalities and universities worldwide, bringing together doctoral students from different academic cultures. Fellows remain at their respective universities and come together for two workshops organized jointly by the Leo Baeck Institute London, the Leibniz Institute for Jewish History and Culture – Simon Dubnow, and the Studienstiftung.
