Information for Incoming Students

Here you'll find information on some important aspects of organizing your studies at the University of Marburg.

Belegliste

The "Belegliste" is one of the most important documents during your stay in Marburg, because based on the information on your Belegliste, your final Transcript of Records will be issued.
You have to create it on your own in Mobility Online at the beginning of the semester. You will have to fill out carefully all the information about your courses (course number, course title, teacher's name, ECTS) and keep your Belegliste up to date, e.g. if you drop courses, delete courses etc. After having completed your Belegliste submit it to your departmental exchange coordinator (in our case Frau Arnold).
At the end of your stay you need to submit your Belegliste per email (attached as a pdf document) to the departmental exchange coordinator again, who will take care of issuing your Transcript of Records. Only with a duly completed and signed Belegliste your transcript of records can be issued! Therefore, all of your grades are manually inserted into your Belegliste by your departmental coordinator. For that it is necessary that you ask each of your teachers to e-mail your grades to the departmental exchange coordinator.
Only after all grades are reported to the departmental coordinator it may take up to 4 weeks until the transcript arrives at your university postally.

Courses, Vorlesungsverzeichnis, MARVIN and ILIAS

The course catalogue is published online at the beginning of March (for summer term) and at the beginning of August (for winter term).
Go to Marvin, then "Studienangebot", "Vorlesungsverzeichnis", select the correct term, click on "Fachbereich 10 Fremdsprachliche Philologien", and search for courses. You will find them at "Lehramt an Gymnasien (LAaG)", "LAaG Latein" or "LAaG Griechisch". But there are other degrees like "B.A. Historische Sprach-, Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaften", where you might find interesting courses for your Erasmus, as well.

In case you want to attend classes - as well as in other fields of study (art history, archeology) - you need to attend all module parts (usually 2-3 different classes) in order to complete the entire module and get the final ECTS credits (usually 6 ECTS/module). In the most cases not all module parts are offered each term.

To register for courses, please send an e-mail directly to your teacher and the secretariat of our institute, because at this stage exchange students can't register for courses themselves. The registration period for each class is indicated in the course catalogue in the field "Zeiträume".

If you have trouble to register, contact the secretariat of our Institute.

There is also a digital learning platform, ILIAS. Once you have all your courses selected, and registered manually by our secreteriat, you might need to search for the corresponding groups on ILIAS, too. In order to do so login to ILIAS, click on "Magazin", "ILIAS: Kurse aller Semester", "Fb10: Fremdsprachliche Philologien", "Institut für Klassische Sprachen und Literaturen" and select the correct term.

If you have trouble to register for groups in ILIAS, contact the lecturer responsible for the course.

Exam Registration

As an exchange student you do not need to register online for your exams. Your Belegliste will be a sufficient record of your academic work and grades.

If you have further questions or trouble to register for either platform, don't hesitate to contact us:
