Here you can find the most important information regarding courses.

For detailed instructions on how to register for your courses via MARVIN, please refer to the University’s YouTube channel, where a step-by-step guide video is available.
Please note that different rules and deadlines may apply for import modules from other departments.

Deregistration is done through the same channels used for registration.
In general, the deadlines for deregistration correspond to those for registration. You can find the exact dates here.
As a rule, you should deregister from any courses you do not intend to attend after initially signing up, in order to avoid problems when registering for courses in MARVIN in the following semester. MARVIN only allows exactly as many course registrations per module as required by the examination regulations for that module, regardless of whether you actually attended a course or not, or whether you would like to attend another course or repeat one.
Inhalt ausklappen Inhalt einklappen What happens if I miss the registration deadline for a course?
Registration for the course via MARVIN is unfortunately not possible after the deadline.
If the instructor agrees, you may still attend the course.
Course registration is independent of exam registration. Even if you are not registered for the course, you can still register for the exam and/or any mandatory coursework within the applicable deadlines.
You can also join the ILIAS course associated with the class if you have the password. This, of course, only applies if your course registration was denied solely due to the expired deadline.

If you are unable to register for a course, please check the following:
A) Are you even allowed to take the module to which the course belongs?
For students of the M.A. International Criminal Justice:
Please check whether the module appears in the module list of the examination regulations and is available for you to take.
If it is an import module, please check whether it is available for you to take. A corresponding list can be found in Appendix 3 of the examination regulations.
B) If you are allowed to take the module but cannot register for other reasons than those described above, please contact the iCM coordinator of the program offering the course. For the M.A. “International Criminal Justice,” please write to ma-icj@staff.uni-marburg.de.
Be sure to include the following information:
- Description of the problem, including a screenshot as evidence
- Your student ID number
- The course (LV) number and the title of the module in which you wish to enroll.

Courses that are not part of modules available to you according to the applicable examination regulations cannot be counted toward your curriculum. Participation will neither be officially certified nor recorded on your transcript of records.
For courses that you are not required or permitted to take as part of your curriculum, you generally cannot register via MARVIN. If the instructor agrees, however, you may attend the course on an informal, non-credit basis.
