Administration, Technology, IT & Library
Behind the core mission of research, teaching, and knowledge transfer at Philipps-Universität Marburg lies a complex infrastructure. Approximately 2,000 employees work in the non-academic areas of administration, technology, IT, and the library to ensure the university’s operations and support for around 21,000 students. Philipps-Universität Marburg is thus one of the largest employers in the region.
Marburg University focuses on targeted professional development across all areas, combining individual career goals with organizational requirements. We promote academic excellence as well as methodological, social, and personal skills through a diverse range of learning and continuing education opportunities. We offer a wide range of professional development opportunities in the form of internal and external seminars, workshops, and self-study programs, and we promote internationalization through study abroad opportunities for professional and intercultural development via Erasmus+.
We support continuing education while working and view professional development as the foundation for career advancement and growth opportunities. A positive work environment and the satisfaction of our employees are important to us. We foster this, for example, through collaborative formats for knowledge exchange and team-building, annual performance reviews, mentoring, and conflict resolution counseling. Our service agreement on flexible working hours (PDF, German) offers, in addition to family services and the ability to switch flexibly between part-time and full-time work, a framework that significantly facilitates the balance between work and private life. Furthermore, we are continuously building a structured workplace health management system.
We are making Marburg University future-proof by actively involving our employees in the digital transformation and creating an environment where people want to stay.
