22.05.2025 LiMa 2.0 Kickoff event

On May 9, 2025 colleagues from Czechia (University of West Bohemia in Pilsen), France (University of Limoges), Poland (Adam Mickiewicz University), Portugal (University of Lisbon) and Serbia (University of Kragujevac) came together for the digital Kickoff event of Project LiMa 2.0 (LiMa – Lehramt international in Marburg) to celebrate the continued cooperation for the upcoming years, to welcome new partners into the network and to plan future activities.

Project LiMa is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) within the framework of the "Lehramt.international" program in its second funding phase from 2025 to 2029. The project allows teacher education students at Marburg University to develop intercultural competencies during their studies, equipping them for teaching in increasingly diverse school settings. The project mainly focuses on the subjects Biology, Geography, Politics and Economics, as well as EGL (the obligatory pedagogical part of the study program).

During the event, we took a look back on the first funding phase from 2021 to 2024 and its activities, such as networking trips, lecture series, teaching cooperations, scholarships and the Summer School in 2023 on the topic of “Teaching for Sustainable Development”.

We also introduced two recently published websites by Lehramt.international, the programme that funds project LiMa: On the Lehramt.international website, an overview over all model projects from the participating universities can be accessed, as well as a list of publications on various topics regarding the internationalization of teacher education. Then the planned activities for both staff and students in project LiMa 2.0 in the years 2025 to 2029 were introduced. Participants learned about teacher education in the countries of the LiMa network, including a discussion about current common issues in teacher education. After a break, the event continued with a networking phase where colleagues came together to meet and discuss future cooperation in two groups related to education and education for democracy as well as geography and biology.

The aim for 2025 and 2026 is to build on the past four years, organize networking trips, teaching cooperations, digital events and guest lectureships and work together to promote internationalization and diversity in teacher training programmes.
