Modul Advanced Management Accounting III: Data Analysis and Empirical Research

Aim & Scope: The module presents and discusses methods and theories useful to explore and learn from data. Adopting the view that “[t]he world's most valuable resource is no longer oil, but data” (Economist, 2017), the module addresses topics of “data literacy”, applied data analytics, as well as the correlation versus causation issue. Students are asked to apply their knowledge to selected business challenges. As such, students will learn practically usable knowledge for a career in consulting, investment banking, or in CFO-related areas as well as the strategy department of a multi-national company.
Grading: Grading based on test (60min) + essay (group work) + term paper (group work)
