MARG INVITES STUDENTS TO BECOME PART OF A INTERESTING RESEARCH PROJECT ON SUSTAINABILITY OF FIRMS.

If you are interested in the topic of sustainability, ESG reporting, or data analytics join the Management Accounting Research Group (MARG)! We are looking for students interested in joining our latest research project, which is concerned with sustainability performance of European listed firms as measured by the EU taxonomy.

What is the EU taxonomy: The European Commission’s mission is to become carbon-neutral by 2050. However, this can only be achieved if firms in the EU become more sustainable. As a result, the European Commission has established a classification system, the EU taxonomy, to identify environmentally sustainable economic activities. Thereby, the EU taxonomy provides firms, investors and policymakers with appropriate definitions indicating which economic activities can be considered environmentally sustainable to steer investments towards such activities. Further, firms in the EU are required to report their EU taxonomy activities. This transparency enables other stakeholders to compare firm’s sustainable activities and investments.

With our research project, we want to shed light on the taxonomy reporting of selected European companies answering guiding questions along several dimensions such as transparency, firm performance, or sustainability performance. Participation is possible from now on as part of a “project phase” or a master's thesis.

Detailed information can be found in the presentation here (in German). If you are interested or have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Prof. Dr. Marc Steffen Rapp ().

We are looking forward to hearing from you!
