Description:
2027 marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Marburg Children's Hospital. This event took place shortly before the beginning of Nazi rule, whose effects on clinical work with children remain largely unexplored. The same applies to children and adolescents from Marburg and the surrounding area who fell victim to Nazi medical crimes and became victims of forced sterilization or “euthanasia” crimes.
This is an occasion to bring the exhibition “In Memory of the Children. Pediatricians and Crimes Against Children in the Nazi Era” by the German Society for Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (DGKJ) https://www.im-gedenken-der-kinder.de/ (GER) to Marburg in 2027 and supplement it with some locally significant representations.
The development of these stories connected to Marburg and the surrounding area will be carried out jointly in the preclinical elective course. After introductory sessions, sources such as medical records or hereditary health files will be jointly compiled and contextualized, visual material will be selected, and finally exhibition panels will be designed. In this way, a new perspective will be developed on a frequently neglected group of victims of National Socialism – children and adolescents with mental illnesses and disabilities.

Performance assessment:
