Equality, diversity, antidiscrimination and mental health
The Children's Hospital stands for diversity and democratic values, which is why we explicitly endorse the statement on the Bundestag election of the bundesweiten Netzwerkes Antidiskriminierung an Hochschulen (nationwide Network of Antidiscrimination in Higher Education) of 14.02.2025. Here you can find the statement on the federal election (GER) (PDF). You can find more information about the anti-discrimination network at universities here (GER).
MedEq stands for Equality in Medicine. The goal we all share is a respectful atmosphere for work and study throughout the entire degree program, which includes equality for all as well as the prevention of possible discrimination. Objectivity and fairness should be at the forefront. Click here for the Working Group for Equality at the Hospital and in the School of Medicine (GER).
Women’s and Equal Opportunity Officers at the School of Medicine: As women’s representatives, we are the contact persons for all women who are studying, teaching, researching and working at the university. We provide advice on academic and career planning, conflicts in the workplace or place of study, and instances of sexual discrimination. Likewise, the integration of gender studies in research and teaching is promoted in all academic units. Monthly meetings ensure cooperation with other women’s and equal opportunity officers and with (women’s) networks outside the university. The women’s representatives are not bound by directives – inquiries are treated confidentially. Click here for the Women’s and Equal Opportunity Officers at the School of Medicine (GER).
Women’s and Equal Opportunity Officers at Philipps-Universität Marburg: The Women’s and Equal Opportunity Officers are contact persons for all questions and consultations concerning the advancement of women, gender equality, and equal opportunities. Click here for the activities of the Women’s and Equal Opportunity Officers (GER).
Antidiscrimination Office for Students: The main task of the ADiS is to provide independent and confidential advice and support to students who have experienced discrimination and/or disadvantage at Philipps-Universität Marburg. Click here to go to the Antidiscrimination Office for Students (GER).
The topic of gender diversity is also important to us. Statistically, about 3.3% of the population is inter*, trans*gender, and/or identifies as neither male nor female (nonbinary). The website for the Women’s and Equal Opportunity Officers (GER) has information on the topics of all-gender-inclusive language, antidiscrimination, name changes and much more.
Mental health – Peer-to-Peer for mental illnesses: A support group for depression, anxiety, and panic attacks that you can access every fourth Tuesday of the month through BigBlueButton. You can learn all about Peer-to-Peer and the support group through the Mental Health Support Group page. You can also find information and contact information on how to join the support group and an overview of upcoming dates (GER). “People with depression, to me they’re not weak people; they’re the strongest people walking around. Because for them, every day is a struggle!” (Quote from Torsten Sträter)
EStER - Empowerment for students with experiences of racism: Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) experience racism both in everyday university life and in other areas of their lives. Further information can be found on the EStER website (GER).

A family-friendly university
Families are made up of a wide variety of age groups, and for each generation there are different challenges and needs: Study, work and research on the one hand and children of all ages, partnership, siblings, parents, care responsibilities and much more on the other. On the Family Service website, you will find information about the topic of family (GER). The Babysitter Exchange is an internet platform that allows students and employees of Philipps-Universität Marburg to offer or search for babysitting services free of charge. You can find more information on the website of the Supervision exchange of the Philipps-Universität Marburg Institution navigation (GER).
